Massage therapy provides effective therapeutic and relaxing treatments. Massage therapy can help with decrease soft tissue pain, pain management, stress reduction, increase circulation, increased range of motion and body awareness.

Massage treatments are personalized to best treat the individual patient through assessment and specialty testing. Massage is effective in treating deeper structures and in providing relief for many common conditions such as migraine and tension headaches, tendonitis, arthritis, chronic neck and shoulder strain, sports injuries, carpal tunnel syndrome, whiplash and digestive disorders.

Initial visit: Includes consultation regarding the patient's medical history, as well as a thorough assessment (examination) of the current condition or injury. These are vital steps in treatment as the therapist uses this information to make an educated decision on the best approach to treatment.

Deep-Tissue: Designated to reach the deep portions of thick muscles, specifically the individual muscle fibres. Using deep muscle compression and friction along the grain of the muscle, its purpose is to unstick the fibres of the muscles and release both toxins and deeply held patterns of tension. Deep Tissue focuses on realigning skeletal muscles and connective tissue.

Therapeutic: The fundamental distinction between Therapeutic massage and other forms of body work, is the fact that it is performed on patients with injuries, trauma or chronic diseases.

Pre-natal & Post natal: Pregnancy massage not only relieves the tensions and aches caused by the extra weight, but it also reduces swelling, soothes the nervous system, reduces fatigue, and enhances energy. In addition, pregnancy massage helps to decrease labour complications. Expecting moms can benefit from treatment during their whole pregnancy. It is recommended to continue with massage therapy after labour, as it enhances the recovery time.

Acupuncture is the use of fine disposable needles to stimulate specific points on the body in order to help the body restore its natural balanced state. This safe and effective therapy has been used for thousands of years and can address a wide variety of issues such as musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction, gastrointestinal issues, women’s health issues, fertility, and much much more!

Cupping: Refers to an ancient Chinese practice in which a cup is applied to the skin so that the skin and superficial muscle layer is drawn into and held in the cup. In some cases, the cup may be moved while the suction of skin is active, causing a regional pulling of the skin and muscle. The treatment gives the tissue a deep, quick massage. It breaks down adhesions, and thus helps facilitate blood circulation. Cupping can benefit any painful congested area, bronchitis, swellings, arthritis, low backache, sprains, shoulder tension and more.

Ear Seeds: Ear acupuncture points may be stimulated for a longer period of time by using ear seeds. Ear seeds are small seeds from the Vaccaria plant. These seeds are held in place on the ear with a small piece of adhesive tape. Ear seeds may be left in the ear for a few days and can be stimulated by the patient as shown by the practitioner.

Tui Na with Jenna Knight: A deep tissue massage using different manipulations to stimulate the body energy flow.

Chinese Food Cures: What works for one person may not for the next. Chinese food cures will help identify diet needs for each individual.

Naturopathic Medicine is a primary healthcare profession that focuses on treating the underlying cause of disease and illness through supporting the body’s self-healing capabilities. Treatment plans encompass a blend of modern scientific research and traditional forms of healing that are individualized to reach each patient’s health goals.

Clinical Nutrition: Nutritional supplementation is used in capsule, tablet or injection form to treat underlying nutritional deficiencies, support the immune system and prevent the progression of disease.

Botanical Medicine: Both western and Chinese herbs are used in the form of teas, capsules, tablets, tinctures and topical preparations.

Lifestyle Counselling: Diet, exercise, sleep and stress management are addressed to promote sustainable health and longevity.

Acupuncture: Specific acupuncture points are selected to help re-establish balance in the body and promote healing.

Allergy Desensitization: Allergen solution is given under the tongue through a series of treatments to improve allergic symptoms by reducing the body’s sensitivity to the allergen.

Detoxification: The skin, liver, lungs, kidneys and digestive tract are the main organs of elimination. A combination of infared sauna sessions, dietary support and botanical and nutritional supplementation is used to increase sweating, improve circulation, optimize bowel movements and enhance liver function.

Homeopathy: Based on the theory of 'like cures like,' a patient's symptoms are matched to a homeopathic remedy. Pellets or liquid solutions containing highly diluted substances are given based on the totality of symptoms.

Physical Medicine: Musculoskeletal disorders are treated with osseous manipulation, soft tissue techniques and therapeutic exercise.

Injection Therapies: Intramuscular (IM) and intravenous (IV) injections of high dose vitamins and minerals can be individualized based on patient needs. Bio-availability and absorption are greatly increased compared to oral supplementation.

Bioidentical Hormones: Structurally identical to hormones produced naturally by the human body, bioidentical hormones are a safer alternative to the synthetically modified hormones that have been used in the past with Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT).

Prescriptive Medicines: In 2010, the BC government granted NDs prescriptive drug rights. Dr. Owens chooses to prescribe pharmaceutical medicines when required.

Neural therapy/Biopuncture: The use of 1% procaine and plant-based ultra-low dilution products, which are injected into specific body regions to relieve pain and inflammation.

Craniosacral therapy is an anatomically precise modality that is approached energetically. It is a gentle hands-on therapy in which very light touch is applied to various parts of the body including the feet, skull, vertebral spine, and sacrum. In this work, we connect with the Craniosacral system, consisting of soft tissue and fluid that protect, feed and detoxify our brain and spinal cord that articulate with every other system as a whole. It can treat physical, spiritual and mental/emotional imbalances, encouraging the body to relax, unwind, and release. The effects can be profound and issues can be worked on at a level that many other manual techniques cannot reach.

Breathwork can be a useful tool when feeling acutely or chronically dysregulated. It can be a powerful tool in both the preparation or integration stages of an assisted therapeutic journey. Breathwork can also be a practice of deepening the connection to self.
This somatic therapeutic modality is designed to connect directly with the autonomic nervous system and allows you to re-pattern subconscious states of mind and body, allowing blocked emotional patterning, trauma, and blissful states of euphoria to come to the surface. With guided facilitation, you are able to gently integrate these "incomplete" experiences by feeling them fully within a safe container and returning to deep rest and relaxation, the parasympathetic state. Complete unresolved cycles of trauma and pain in your body, and open into the possibility of freedom, bliss, and connection to the whole of yourself.

Every one is welcome.
